One night, the moon ll

Well, the moon was pretty close to the earth tonight. It certainly looks it too with this shot. What are those lines at the poles and that bright light, bottom right??? Ah the world is an incredible place.
For the record - Nikon d90 300mm f2.8 lens, ISO 200 f5.6 1/2000 sec, my husbands photographic kit - thanks for your help Greg.
