Woody Woodpecker
Actually, this is a Red-bellied Woodpecker, melanerpes carolinus. It's a weird name because they don't have red bellies, they have red heads.
Imagine my surprise when this guy started making a strange noise from the roof of my house, then swooped down to perch on the bird feeders right in front of my camera!
Kind of hope he's just passing through...I can live without the rat-a-tat-tat.
He is very flashy though, love the black and white bars!
