Friday 1 April 2011: Female greenfinch eating sunflower seeds

Sunflowers are all but gone, and now the birds are moving in. The greenfinches love the seeds, and I have occasionally seen sparrows eating them too, though not as often. These ones are outside my bedroom window , but the birds are so quick to spot any movement that it's very hard to get a reasonable shot.

For some reason the females seem slightly less flighty than the males - I have yet to get a good male shot.

This was taken in very low light, and of course the bird's movement makes the plants move too, so I was pleased to get this!
