Saturday 2 April 2011: Striking Fritillary
I planted these with my fair hands not realising nor believing for one second that they'll come up this Spring as they're notoriously difficult to grow, let alone to come up the following Spring, so it's a mini miracle they have flowered - there's 9 heads all in one corner & a few more to flower. They are so exquisitely beautiful!
NB: the title - the flowers are called 'snakes head fritillary' & a snake strikes to catch it's prey! Other names are Checkered Daffodil, Chess Flower, Frog-cup, Guinea-hen Flower, Leper Lily. :)
