Thursday 7 April 2011: Travis Wetland #2 Skein of geese

Went for a lovely walk around the wetland today - very cold wind blowing but an interesting sky and lots of birds, particularly Canada geese which seem to have returned in numbers - maybe they know the shooting season starts soon?

I love all the russet tones of the different types of rushes etc and the back drop of the hills.

there was a harrier hawk flying over which caused a lot of alarm calls from the birds, especially the paradise ducks. Usually it's the plovers screeching at the hawks, but today it was the ducks, and eventually the geese took off.

I ;liked the way the skein of geese echoed the line of the hills.
