Doing Things Differently

Oh Wow!!

Day Six of our Lake District holiday, and the weather just gets better and better!

Today we walked into Keswick and caught the Borrowdale bus outside Booths supermarket. We got off at Lodore to walk home via the southern and western shores of Derwentwater and then the Cumbria Way.

We ate our lunch at Brandlehow Bay, with great views of the lake and the fells behind. We stopped for a coffee in Portinscale and even had a cake to fortify us for the last leg.

Passing through Keswick town centre, the Market was on again, so we bought some more cheese from the Cartmel Cheese stall. The same guy was there who served us on Saturday, so we complimented the cheese, and the wax paper wrapping, the quality of which just added a little something to the purchase!!

This Blip is of the view from the southern end of Derwentwater, looking over to Skiddaw on the right and the approach to Cat Bells on the left. Once again the lake was higher than we've seen it for a long time. The path from Lodore to the footbridge was covered in two inches of water, but we had our boots on, so it didn't matter.

The weather brought out the birds as well. Wherever we walked there was birdsong and woodpeckers drumming. We saw Chiffchaff, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch and Treecreeper. Plus, I got two Year Ticks, Willow Warbler and Red-breasted Merganser, taking me to 113.

Magic!!
