Monday 11 April 2011: Abloom
I noticed this bush on the corner a few days ago starting to bloom. Today it was all afire with little honeysuckles. As a kid, we had one of these growing on the the fence in the backyard. We would pluck them and drink the nectar inside. Fond memories. So this bush makes me nostalgic for home and my grandmother, especially.
Today it was warmer than it has ever been in Boston since I've lived here - clouds at first, but it rightly cleared up and was a positively warm (I was even sweating a bit!) 67 degrees (or 20 Celsius for everyone outside the US)!
I have been waiting all day on a package from UPS that requires my signature. Don't you hate that? One of the many reasons I am always extolling the virtue of the USPS (regular Federal mail). UPS and Fedex are just far too much trouble and business.
Things keep happening in my life - this is the way of spring, no? If I could, I would live somewhere with no winter.
Two thoughts:
"Ordinary life does not interest me. I seek only the high moments. I am in accord with the surrealists, searching for the marvelous." - Anaïs Nin
"What is meant for you will not go by." - Alan
EDIT: So this is apparently forsythia - thanks for the heads up! It looks very similar to the honeysuckle I remember, maybe they are in the same family?
