Cramond Island

Day two of being Edinburgh Tourists and a lazy start to the day including a wee nap on the sofa for me as Mrs L and Val did the Scotsman crossword. Eventually we got out and headed past old haunts down to Cramond. As soon as I saw the causeway to Cramond Island was clear I thought that's just got to be done (having never done it before).

Looking at the tide tables we were still an hour before the start of the "safe crossing" window, but it looked pretty safe to me. So we debated, but given time was tight (we were supposed to pick up Roger and Barbara, two more friends from down south in ninety minutes from Haymarket) Mrs L and Val decided to just take a wander up the River Almond, while Howard and I attempted the crossing, but with strict instructions to be back at the car in fifty minutes.

Well we succeeded, surviving a heavy shower en-route, and climbed up to the island's high point, and even getting back to the car before the ladies. Roger and Barbara were then picked up in time and are now resident at the timeshare as we returned to Perth.

Today's photo is of Howard having a wee jog on the walk back from the island.
