Dove Alone

Tinged with sadness this blip, the mate of this collard dove lost it's life a few days ago flying into our neighbours conservatory windows. Obviously it will find a new mate, but so early into the nesting season, it's heart breaking to see it alone & I know it's not a good practice to humanize creatures (blame Kate Humble for this) but it has been looking very forlorn & yes, I believe, animals care, they miss each other, they mourn & I feel it's loss.. :(

It's mate is buried in our garden, we bury every dead creature we find, encased in dock leaves & seasonal flowers I collect from the flowerbeds - she/he had forget-me-nots (poignant), dandelions, apple blossom & field speedwell.
