Monday 14 March 2011: The Natural History Museum...

...was built as a "cathedral to science" in Victorian London. (The statue at the far end of the entrance hall is Darwin.) It is truly an amazing building, with animal figures carved into the walls and flower plates tiling the ceiling. The stone work is now joined by modern museum technology and techniques to create incredible exhibits in a truly unique building. My family dragged me out of here after only a little while to go to the Tate Modern; I would have been happy at the Natural History Museum for days and days!
