TYPICAL TUSCAN SCENE

As it's a nice day, albeit thick with pollen, we went for a drive up a road not taken before. There wasn't much to see until we got to this church settlement. It's in an area called Guamo. There's a church and its tower, a villa, other houses, a vineyard, Monday laundry hanging out and moving in a gentle breeze. There were chickens somewhere because I heard them. In the dim distance you can see a hill village where we've not been, either.

On the way back we met our postino at the bottom of the hill and he gleefully gave us our post, plus the post of everybody else up our way and saved himself a drive up the twisty roads. Himself has gone off to deliver it. The posinto's name is Marco and he must be horrified that postal workers have voted to work a five-day week. He only ever works three or four as it is. He, his wife and his mother take it in turns to have flu year round in a rotation which means he can't make his rounds. I dare say he will cut his week to two or three. (Of course we've complained.)

Here he is: Il postino.

For the record: + 18 C. Sunny. Humidity 45%.
