Housenick Estate

We recently read in our local paper that this mansion was willed to our township after the death of the owner in 2005. Unfortunately, it has not been maintained and is in poor condition. There is talk of either tearing it down or just renovating the outside. It would be such a shame and a very sad day if they torn it down. The 55 acres that it sits on will be turned into a public park.

The house itself is a 17-room, Georgian-Colonial-style mansion and was finished in 1923. The former owner, Janet Johnson Housenick, was the daughter of the first mayor of Bethlehem. We will definitely be going back and I will post a photo of the whole house soon.
