Tuesday 19 April 2011: Waimakariri Dawn

I've often wondered what the Waimakariri River would look like at dawn. When I saw a touch of colour in the east I rushed off to the Gorge to look, and arrived in time to see this. I took the photo from the Waimakariri Gorge bridge.

The Waimakariri is a braided river. Here's a shot I took from the air last year.

Not bad in large.
