Tuesday 19 April 2011: A child's landscape

417/365: There's something about this particular landscape which makes it look as if a child painted the picture. The colours are almost too vibrant to be true. The little red barn in the distance is cutesy. And the sky is simple and very very definitely a traditional blue sky.

Strangely enough, though, this isn't a massively welcoming place despite child-like appearances. The barn (and rest of the house) is beaten up. Plus, there's a massive 'PRIVATE PROPERTY - TRESPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED' sign at the entrance, completed with rust stains and red lettering. But it's irresistably blippable especially when I know I haven't time to take any other shots and I'm driving past on my way home.

Time has felt pretty short today. Up at stupid o'clock. In to work just before 8. Made the most of the quiet time to finish off tweaking a teaching session. Had a meeting. Did a spot o' teaching. Late lunch. Read and reviewed some stuff and generally started to feel my energy flagging. Battled the traffic (what *is* it with nice weather and drivers being complete a*seholes???). Got home... and collapsed.

Well, when I say 'collapsed', I actually mean 'earthed up the potatoes, did a spot of weeding, then got the dinner sorted'. *Then* collapsed. :o)

To round off the day, the kids are both grumpy which is making a nice backdrop to my collapsation. They've been out all day with one of their friends from school whose mum happens to be a Shepherdess. So, lots of fun with lambs and rambling through rural Nottinghamshire... and generally enjoying the sunshine for them. Sadly now they're over-tired and Felix is being a complete poo face and Maddy is trying to fall asleep all over the house and whinging if you go near her.

PS Was going to write a PS
PPS ... but Felix has decided to stand on the chair next to me, waving his naked bottom in my face...
PPPS ... and unsurprisingly, I can't concentrate...
