The Honey Plant

This is a house plant called waxflower, also called hoya carnosa. The kids named it "the honey plant" because the flowers drip a sticky sweet nectar. It also has a very pungent scent, but only at night. I keep thinking it must be trying to attract some kind of moth or night creature for pollination purposes. The whole house smells of its romantic musky odor after dark.

Because of the star-shaped center, it's also known as pentacle flower and is a key ingredient in many magic spells!
