Thursday 21 April 2011: Waiting in Vain

The sands still blowing and im still stuck in Kuwait
My helmet and suitcase sit there waiting for the sand to clear.
In the back ground a US National Guard Captain is trying to sleep, the wind is making a huge noise as the tent billows and flaps so i dont think he is having much luck.

In case you are wondering, yes it is a skateboard helmet. Most fatalities in Iraq now result from RTAs (road traffic accidents) so wearing a heavy Kevlar helmet can do more harm than good.
We still wear helmets as there have been many serious injuries and fatalities due to passengers being struck in the skull by flying objects within the vehicle cabin.
Although everything is strapped down the forces resulting from a crash can still dislodge heavy items.
