At the beginning of the year Chester FC were running away with the league and were fourteen points ahead of their nearest rivals. Very quietly over the next few months Skelmersdale Utd whittled that lead away until Chester were only one point ahead but Skem had a game in hand. The title was no longer in our own hands.

On Tuesday night Skem lost 1-0 to Lancaster which left us all games square but Chester one point ahead. We were back in control of our own destiny.

Today, despite having a man sent off, we ground out a 2-0 victory over Bamber Bridge while Skem could only manage a draw. Tonight Chester FC 3 points clear at the top of the table. Two games left to go. We have to hold our nerve.

Today's crowd of over 3300 is a league record.

This is BIG Lupus, our mascot, giving me a wave before the start of the game.
