Sunday 24 April 2011: Puffin!
Went in search of puffins today and was delighted to spot one. It was all on it's own on a pyramid shaped island that is almost connected to the mainland. After a fair trek over the moor we were able to sit and look straight out onto the island that had many puffin burrows. We thought that we were not going to see any as it looked deserted but suddenly one poked his head out of his burrow and had a good look round. Maybe he was waiting for the rest of them to arrive? I guess it is just a little early for good viewing of the colony and I will go back in a few weeks.
Anyway the trip was all worthwhile just to spot this little fellow. They are so funny and colourful and always make me laugh!
