Royal spoonbill coming in to land

The spoonbills were at the estuary today, although they are a long way away! They are such unusual and beautiful birds I love watching them. There were a lot there today they seem to be increasing.

There have been little island made in the estuary to provide safe roosts for the birds, the little brown birds in the shot are also native to NZ and are grey teal ducks.
