Tuesday 26 April 2011: mT "Takasago Maru"
came out of dry-dock and passed us close by this morning. It is an ULCC or Ultra Large Crude Carrier. Over all, she measures 330 meter and has a deadweight of 258.000 tonnes. A real big one, although there are quite a lot of even bigger tankers. Nevertheless, it is an impressive sight. Her main engine is a 27.000 KwH Sulzer diesel. And that is a medium seized diesel compared to the biggest diesel ever made by Sulzer for the Emma Maersk class container vessels. Check for yourself if you want to see this Monster Diesel
