Wednesday 27 April 2011: Blue vine bonsai
It's been a real stress picking my blip today, hence its lateness!
Ant's wisteria (Zi Teng, or blue vine) bonsai is pretty much at its peak today, and I really wanted to capture it before it starts to fade. He bought this in memory of his grandmother, as she had a beautiful old wisteria growing outside her home and he has always loved them.
We tried the tree in a few different positions around the garden (no mean feat as it takes both of us to move it) and in different light conditions as the sun moved around the garden. I didn't get the style of photo I'd hoped for at all, but Ant likes how the dappled sunlight created by the surrounding trees and the shadows from the pergola highlight the different parts of the wisteria in this one. The more I look at it, the more I tend to agree.
This is also my first attempt at a weekly challenge - 'trees'.
