Thursday 28 April 2011: Waikouaiti Beach
On our travels south we stopped off briefly at this beautiful beach.
My forebearers on my mothers side who were from the south of England, sailed from Sydney on the boat the Magnet, and landed at this beach in 1840. They were the Kennards, and they farmed in this area, so they contributed to the establishment of the Otago Province.
Thomas Baker Kennard was the first white boy born in Otago.
