Thursday 28 April 2011: Archaeological Restoration
A joint Italian Iraqi team of Archaeologists begin restoration work on a wall of a pre Biblical gold and silver smiths building.
The coast was only 7km away at the time, it is now 150km away. When the sea receded the salt began to leach out of the ground and soak up into the bricks, when it dried it crystallised and is bursting the bricks open.
The Archaeologists are now taking it apart brick by brick and extracting the salt using a paper based solution.
