Sunset from the Brynderwyn Hills

The Brynderwyns are an imposing range of hills that mark the start of the real Northland. A gnarly twisting winding road leads up and through them. In places it's awfully narrow and unchanged since the first track was cut.

On a good day the view at the top is splendid. This evening it heralded the tingling excitement the start of a real break gives me.

Sea kayaks on the roof rack, surf toys in the back of the station wagon, fishing gear....., Leonard blaring on the stereo.

It's going to be great.
