The way I see it.

Friday 29 April 2011: Boats on a blue sky day.

Another blue sky day in Caithness. He should have got married in his great granny's Castle of Mey along the road if he wanted sunshine! We watched it at school amid a giddy kind of carnival/holiday atmosphere with party food. There was not much accomplished on the work front but everyone joined in the celebratory mood.

I set myself the almost impossible challenge of photographing a swallow in flight today. Ever tried it? They not only fly very fast they also twist and turn and swoop constantly. Got many shots of blue sky with strangely angled horizons and most had no signs of wildlife whatsoever.

So I settled for this completely static but jauntily coloured rowing boat sitting alongside a very old boat that will never go to sea again - it has a 4 inch wide split right up it's bow that you can't see. Yellow and blue are one of my favourite colour combinations.

May holiday on Monday!

You can see the best of the bad swallows here
Edit.... oops been advised it's not a swallow but a sand martin!!
