Whitethroat

I had a couple of hours around Orgreave Lakes and Treeton Dyke this morning, and whitethroats were everywhere, giving their scratchy song. I also got my first lesser whitethroat of the year, although typically for this species, and unlike its more showy cousin, it was hiding unseen in a bush, only revealing itself with its distinctive shuttling song.

Other birds around included swift, yellow wagtail, ringed and little ringed plovers, common sandpiper, reed warbler, garden warbler and sand martin, plus an Egyptian goose that had dropped into Orgreave Lakes.
