Saturday 30 April 2011: The birds
Today's been a bit of a rubbish day healthwise. I suspect that the utter exhaustion is my fibromyalgia making itself known after a series of restless nights. I can only describe it as if someone has pulled the plug on my energy reserves and they've all leaked out.
We were supposed to be going to a neighbours' BBQ this afternoon/evening, but I've spent the last four hours fast asleep in bed. I've made it back down to the lounge, but I'm still in my pyjamas and haven't the energy to get dressed and venture outside, so Ant has made my apologies. We have another BBQ tomorrow to celebrate Kimbaclay's first wedding anniversary and her husband's birthday, so I'm hoping that sleeping today will restore my energy supplies for then...
It can be difficult to have an illness where you don't look ill but you feel absolutely dreadful...and where you can feel fine one day but totally exhausted the next. After a while, friends must get annoyed when you don't show up to lunches or parties or meetings and begin to think you're putting it on. The best description of life with an illness like this is Christine Miserandino's Spoon Theory.
Anyway, this photo was taken this morning. The starlings love the little feeder that suckers onto the glass of the patio doors in our lounge, and they squabble and fight over it when it's just been filled with mealworm. I got some pretty cool shots but I was rather taken with this one, which almost looks like a composite of one bird but is actually a load of them fighting to get to their elevensies.
