Ticking Away the Moments

Steep Hill

Went to Lincoln to visit my family - normally we get up early, rush over (2.5 hours drive) and then dash round trying to make sure we can fit everyone in. This time we decided to stay overnight and do some of the visits on Friday and the rest on Saturday morning.

We had time to go up to the Bailgate area of Lincoln to do some sightseeing at the Cathedral - so much history up there. Took quite a few photos of the Cathedral itself but didn't do it justice - and then my camera battery went flat so I had to resort to my iphone camera, not great when it is getting towards dusk, iphone cameras need good lighting!

This is the view looking up Steep Hill just as it begins to level off, the hill itself is very well named. We had a drink in the Wig & Mitre pub, on the left near the top of this shot - a 14th Century inn. It's worth a visit if you get a chance, Lincoln Cathedral itself is stunning, especially the way it seems to hang over the city, you can see it for miles. Doesn't seem possible that it was first built in 1092 - yes, I've typed that correctly, 1092! More details here if you're interested.
