Sgwarnog: In the Field

Slide into Summer

A holiday period of family friendly events continued with our first visit to the Ilkley Carnival.

The parade was great - local schools had really got into the spirit with some fine costumes around the theme of children's literature. It seemed like most of the town had turned out to watch it too.

The carnival field seemed that typical Yorkshire carnival mix of fairground, wedding bands, children's dance troupes and army recruitment. It's in a fine setting, with the bulk of Ilkley Moor dominating one side, and the lush green of Middleton Woods on the other.

We also had fun on the pebble beach of the Wharfe, with an added bonus of my first Dippers and Grey Wagtails of the year.
