Maternity II
A few months back I had the privilege of shooting some pictures of Karin's sister Kim and her new baby. It was something I'd always wanted to do, but never had the opportunity before.
Mylen, an acquaintance, happened to see these pictures and asked if I might do something similar for her and her sister (they have both had babies in the last few weeks). I was excited and keen to do something like that. Today was the agreed date.
We had a lot of fun creating over 700 pictures! After a very quick scan I found nearly 200 could be deleted, but that still leaves me with about 500 reasonable images. How do I choose!
Right at the end of our session, Mylen happened to lean over her boy and was kissing and snuggling with him. I still had room on my memory card for a few more images and caught this moment, just by chance. It is one of my favourite of the day. I really think it looks amazing when viewed large.
I'll have to put a couple of my other favs on my Flickr account. But that may take a few days. I have a lot of other projects I'm working on right now! Whew - when it rains, it pours, as my mom used to say!
I guess it's normal that it is only after a while, after a lot of shutter clicks that people really start to relax in front of the camera. I guess it takes a while to start to trust the photographer, to trust yourself, to trust that it will all work out just fine. It was like that today. Both Mylen and her sister were very comfortable in front of camera, but it was only after I'd been there about an hour or so that things really relaxed and we could behave very naturally and comfortably.
