Thursday 5 May 2011: Baltimore Oriole

I am so excited today!! I looked out the window to see a bright orange spot up in our apple tree....I grabbed my camera, I knew exactly what it was!! The Baltimore Orioles are here!!!

There were two males hopping from flower to flower on the very top of the tree! They were moving quickly, and stayed up high, making it very tough to get a good photo, but I wanted to blip this one!!

Thie Oriole received its name from the fact that the male's colors resemble those on the coat-of-arms of Lord Baltimore.

Looks like I'm going to have to set up a little stand to put orange slices and grape jelly on!!
