Thursday 5 May 2011: CONGRATULATIONS
After getting back from work, today, I popped to the post office to deposit a letter in the post box.
These wedding photographs are displayed in the post office window and depict the images of village residents on their individual wedding days. I have lived in the village all my life (apart from an enforced exile of five years' duration) but there are very few of the people in the pictures that I know as the village now seems to be populated by off-comed-uns (a Yorkshire term meaning those not born and bred in a place).
The air is quite oppressive here at the moment and the rain that has started to fall hasn't really done much to alleviate that oppression.
