Friday 6 May 2011: Auxiliary Steering Wheels

Last two dives of the holiday and two real crackers!

This morning we dived the Coln, our second dive on her this week. This time we went to the stern taking in the 0.88 calibre gun on the deck and several 5.9in guns. Just before the stern Sharkie came to find us to show us the auxiliary steering wheel down in the lower deck. These wheels were only used in emergencies and it must have been very unpleasant working down there, if things had gone that wrong.

Even so it was great to see them.

This afternoon we dived the Tabarka, one of the block ships, ie ship sunk in the channels between the islands to prevent enemy subs gaining entry to the Flow. Cyclops has a lovely blip of the inside of the Tabarka.

It's been a great week diving with Cyclops, and Emily's dive briefing has been exceptional, made the whole week much more enjoyable.

BTW B passed his rebreather training with flying colours - well done B :)
