Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Opening Day

So many choices from today: Opening day of boating season, A 100+ yr. tradition involving 50 yacht clubs in the NW including Vancouver BC. This year's theme:Salish Sea Treasures. Some Salish native american canoes came to row in the noon parade, after several dragon boats, and before the official parade which begins with the fireboats spraying water everywhere. Then all the (hundreds of) classic yachts. Amazingly, The predicted rain held off!
However, we go to watch the crew races which are first. Not the best spectator sport, but having raced in this event 11 years ago, it's still pretty fun to see the kids, the seniors and the college teams race. This year the invited team was from Cambridge so I decided to post the Cambridge girls and the crowd at the finish line - we appreciated their fine showing.
After watching the canoes, we left, I to spend the afternoon in a luohan (Qigong) workshop learning to open up all those meridians for energy to flow! :-) And finally a quiet evening at home... yea!

My friend Mikeday got a pix of the dragon boats (can't quite see all the dragon heads) for another look at the races here.
