Cello Student

Having left our enjoyable stay in Umbria, we drove north today. What a difference 600 years makes in accommodations. We are staying in a brand new hotel outside of Bologna. We decided to visit Parma today and spend the next couple of days in Bologna. Having slept late, we missed our opportunity to tour the opera house. After lunch we walked through the large park, enjoyed the Auturo Toscanini birthplace, and the Verdi birthplace. A busload of Italian tourists began singing an impromptu version of an aria from La Traviata.

Walking the narrow streets of Parma by the music school, you could hear the students practicing - etudes, scales, arpeggios and long tones echoing throughout the quarter.

We dropped off our car in Bologna and took the bus back to our hotel. The last tank of gas cost $135 US.

Ciao!
