King Jose I statue Lisbon

After a very early arrival in Lisbon the bright sun and lovely warmth was a welcome change from the weather that had taken a turn for the worse in the UK.
It is the first time i've been to Lisbon a city i've always wanted to visit.
It doesn't disappoint and they have more than their fair share of magnificent statues.
This one of Jose 1 Praça do Comércio, created by Machado de Castro, is I believe the oldest.
Portugal is a country that apparently is heavily in debt, although it wasn't noticeable by the usual tell tale signs of boarded up shops. In fact it seemed to be booming.
