Scrawny Old Man

The times they are a-changin'

Clock in Dundee High Street. 1932 clock commemorating Dundee Town House which was built by William Adam 1732-34. The steeple was over 40 metres high, and the ground level arcades, enclosing shops, gave it its local name 'The Pillars'. The town house was demolished in 1932, along with most of the historic heart of Dundee. What survived the 1930s didn't survive the 1960s!
The clock is on the front of one historic building that did survive, built in 1560 but with 18th century facade. We got to see round the original building behind, known as Gardyne's Land, when it was being restored a few years ago - now a youth hostel, retaining many of its original features (it says here.)

For those who missed it, a later addition to my blip yesterday was this link to an exciting race. 7 pictures, look at them in order. I didn't set it up in any way - found the snail there, didn't take much notice of the greenfly till I looked at the photos and realised what they were doing.
