Thursday 19 May 2011: MOVE ALONG!
This is a picnic site that is situated on the outskirts of the village. It used to be just a layby at the side of the road upon which the District Council used to store piles of road chippings. However, the distances between each pile of chippings used to be quite spacious and for a number of years we had a group of travellers who made camp between the piles.
Naturally, the Parish Council were incensed by such action and once the travellers had departed (after court injunctions etc) the land was quickly fenced in, grassed over and picnic furniture put on it.
Has anyone ever had a picnic there? Not to my knowledge.
