The Edge of the Wold

Not to be beeaten....

Not to be beaten, this is the second attempt to take a photograph of a bumblebee in flight. And it is both closer and sharper than last night's. This one is feeding on another popular bee plant, Geranium phaeum. It may not be the last in this series, as I try to get one that is perfectly sharp. There wasn't enough light when I took this this morning before work, if we get a brighter day, I may get a better result.

I spent lunchtime down at the river in Kendal trying to take a photo of a gull flycatching over the Kent, but none of them were quite sharp enough either.

Update on the sparrows in the box at work, see Wednesday. The little ones have fledged as predicted, though they are staying close to the nest box. At one point, the fledglings and adults all crammed into the box out of the wind. And yes, I said adults, because the male has reappeared. Perhaps he was just having a day off on Wednesday.
