Friday 20 May 2011: The calm before...

448/365: ... it got warm. :o)

Rubbish weather yesterday... sparkles and blue skies today. And we even got a tour of Thessaloniki from one of the people from the college which was a) lovely, b) interesting and c) wrecked my feet! But it was nice to spend a bit of time out of meeting rooms and play tourist for a few hours. Lots of old buildings. Lots of churches. Lots of narrow winding streets. Plus a busy city centre which beeped and bustled in the sunshine.

After that... meetings and a working lunch then more meetings. Which was fine and they were all brilliantly enthusiastic. By half three we were done so I took advantage of a meander along the harbour, topping up the sea air and managing to get hot, sweaty and deeply unattractive in the process. But who cares? It was pretty and my sore tootsies just had to go with the flow.

Left the hotel for the airport at about 5... no taxi disasters and our flight left on time. Fortunately it was only about 3 and a half hours and the taxi at the other end was there. Yes, the taxi driver had one of those annoying jerky driving styles and had the window open the whole way which froze the right hand side of my head. But he was there. Which is better than yesterday! Arrived home at 1am. Into bed seconds later.
