Saturday 21 May 2011: One Good Tern Deserves Another.... And Another...
A Sandwich Tern to be exact - my first.
Up ridiculously early to drive north to Aberdeen for a family get-together, arriving to a cooked breakfast (thanks mum!) and then heading out to the local woods looking for red squirrels with my brother Adam. They were twitchy however, so we abandoned the woods and went coastal, out to Newburgh to go and see the seals.
I've blipped them before, but during breeding season you're not allowed on the other side of the river mouth, so they are seen from slightly further afar. And there they were, hundreds of them (and thousands of Eiders), scarpering into the water as two kite surfers sent up their windtraps.
Pah. Not too happy about that, even if they did provide some dramatic shots - they're not being blipped because they spooked the wildlife at a sensitive time.
Back home, trip into town, new shoes bought, dinner at Yorokobi (a Japanese/Korean place) (superb). Tired.
Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3. Sleep.
