Sunday 22 May 2011: Sampiyon
Today was not only a big one for English football fans.
Immediately after Fenerbahce sealed the Turkish title, their fans poured out onto Kingsland Road in Hackney to celebrate. Traffic was brought, if not quite to a standstill, then to a slow crawl as a couple of hundred supporters chanted at each other from fan clubs on either side of the street.
This is one of a batch. I got drenched by champagne twice, avoided being run over by passing cars a few times, and left stinking of flare smoke.
And meanwhile, back here, my team muffed their lines.
I hate football.
