Monday 23 May 2011: A Wild Day

Back blipping this because there was a power cut last night that must have lasted well into the small hours. In fact everywhere around here was off - Inveraray, Strachur, and over to Lochgilphead and Campbeltown too. Hardly surprising as it was the worst day of weather in May I have ever seen. I got stuck at Inveraray for an hour and a half because of fallen trees on the road between there and the end of Loch Fyne and there was debris everywhere between Kilmory (where I had been meeting councillors) and home. I had to cancel two constituency appointments just because I couldn't physically make them !

It is hard sometimes to represent such an event - the scale is too big. Only by concentrating on one detail can you get a sense of the whole. I noticed this wee boat just off Furnace, being tossed up and down by the waves which were sweeping in along Loch Fyne. Usually you can see from here across the loch to Newton - however today the spindrift blotted everything out.
