The Royal Mile 10 - Edinburgh Castle

No Royal Mile series would be completed without the Edinburgh Castle. It's the leading visitor attraction in Edinburgh. It sits on top of the Royal Mile and it's steeped in history. Its first historical reference dates back to around AD 600, Din Eidyn - A fortress on the rock. It would take me too long to tell you all about its history, it has been a stronghold for over 3000 years! It is perched on an extinct volcano and it's a powerful national symbol. Its story is Scotland's story. It is run and cared for by Historic Scotland, a Scottish Government agency.

In the Castle explanade, every August takes place the famous Military Tattoo, that thousands of people come to see every year. There are fireworks displays as well throughout the year, the most famous ones being at the end of the Edinburgh festival and at Hogmanay. These firework displays are set around the Castle. They are really impressive.

Another late blip today, since I finished work late again.

Looks like another problem has developed in our bathrom. The saga continues!!!! Looks like one of the pipes underneath the bathroom is damaged and leaking. This is what the neighbour was complaining about the other day. Thankfully, it's nothing to do with the shower itself! So, anyway, floorboards up again! What a life!

Sorry to bore you with my bathroom problems but, sadly enough, that's the only thing of interest that's happened today. Work was just busy.

Thanks to all of those who are still following my Royal Mile series. I really appreciate it. And thanks very much for your comments as well. I hope you all had a nice day! :)
