Friday 27 May 2011: Evening meal...

Feeling much more rested today, after lying in until nearly eight o'clock! I spent most of the morning trying to catch up with some of the housework I've been neglecting. The trouble is I get bored after about fifteen minutes and have to go and find something else to do, which makes it a fairly slow process!

After lunch I took Alex into town to stock up his wardrobe. We found some amazing lime green, black and white swimming shorts and a bargain pair of red skinny jeans! He's definitely the peacock of my three boys and just loves to stand out from the crowd. Fortunately everything fitted!!

He and his friend set off for Dorset just after five, to spend the weekend with a lad who's got a summer job surveying wildlife around Lulworth Cove. I'm very envious and just hope the weather's reasonably kind for them...

The dogs and I had an evening walk along the river. The hay meadow is looking beautiful at the moment, and I took a few photos of the ox-eye daisies and greater burnet which can be seen here.

But as I returned past the Rowing Lake I noticed a large group of young swans, all busily feeding on pondweed. They were remarkably noisy, and reminded me of teenagers slurping up spaghetti!! And I particularly liked the slightly coy expression in the nearer swan's eye!
