Saturday 28 May 2011: A long day of hiking
Yesterday, my web conference ended and hubby picked me up from Portland and brought me back out to our campsite within the Columbia River Gorge.
Today we had a whole day of hiking planned. We first hiked up to Fairy Falls as I have never yet photographed that one, but always wanted to. Then we hiked to Punchbowl Falls. We had met a couple of photographers along the trail that gave us a heads up of the viewing locations of the falls. We first viewed and photographed Punchbowl Falls from the top location. We climbed down to just over the top. It was a bit scary but it was a breathtaking view.
Hiking to the lower section of Punchbowl Falls we came across the same two photographers. We each waited our turn to take our photos as we had to wade into the water to get around a huge rock to get a view of the falls. I had wore my boots due to the rain and mud and was so glad I had them.
We had a wonderful day, but were really sore. We had hiked and climbed about seven miles throughout our day. We were so tired we went to bed early and sleep almost ten hours. We think the events of the last two weeks caught up with us! It's been so busy!
