Kinda Horrigans

Tuesday 31 May 2011: The morning after the day before...

459/365:... the one where it got sunny because that's what happens after Bank Holidays. If it isn't rainy on a Bank Holiday and then sunny when you have to return to work, some kind of cosmic balance is disturbed and things will go horribly and terribly wrong.

Although, given that (genius, if I do say so myself) theory, then today should have been perfect. But instead, it was chaotic and cold-filled. I've managed to pick up a cold from somewhere. Actually, I know where I got it from. My very own little snot rocket, Felix. Kids just keep on giving. They give you mess. They give you headaches. They give you bits of Lego wedged in the sole of your foot. And germs. Lots and lots of germs.*

In the end, I was irritating myself at work and came home early. There's nothing that says 'have no sympathy for me' like sneezing in an office environment! I guess that explains why I've been so exhausted for the past few days. It did have that weirdly viral feel to it all.

When I got home, I was greeted with Nick telling me he'd had to cancel the cards as he's lost his wallet (if I add the word 'again' then he'll be cross, but let's just say it's not a unique occurrence!). And that means I can't fill my car up with petrol - which it'll need to have on Friday. And we can't do our shopping. And I can't pay for my road fund licence which expires today. AAAAARGH!!!! Obviously, I discovered that my card no longer worked when we were in the supermarket and I had to play the 'embarrassed woman who mutters please can you put my shopping back' at the less than friendly cashier. Which is always lovely - especially if you top that with the kids going mental and my cold raging.

Bleurgh!

Tuesdays which are really Mondays in disguise should be banned. Obviously that doesn't mean I don't want Bank Holidays. But I think we should skip straight to the next weekend and spare ourselves the supercharged-Mondayness of trying to return to work on a weekday.

PS In my head that almost makes sense
PPS Obviously not a lot of sense... but even so...

* Obviously the smooshy bit of me would say that they also gave lots of pleasure, but I have a cold and I'm not willing to give any ground on this one today.
