Friday 3 June 2011: Stalking heron

It was such a lovely evening, we decided against the gym and went for a walk along the river instead. There were damselflies everywhere and lots of dragonflies patrolling up and down the ponds in the nature reserve.

This photo was taken at the full extent of my zoom. I like the range of greens and the shape of the heron.

We watched a group of lads take three hire boats through the lock - talk about messing around on the river! There were lots of cans of beer around and they seemed to spend more time taking pictures of eachother on their phones than keeping an eye on the level of water in the lock. Looks like they'll have a good weekend.

Another stag beetle spotted at lunchtime - they move surprisingly fast and are tricky to focus on!
