Friday 3 June 2011: Making magic in the veggie patch...

462/365: ... and I'm not sure which of us was more delighted about the effect of the water spraying into the evening rays of the sun as they came through the hawthorn and elderberry hedgerow bordering my veggie patch. Probably me, y'know!

Guiltily, I'm sure we wasted far too much water watching the sparkles of the sunshine, but it was worth it for the echo of happy around Felix's head in his dreams tonight. I am nothing if not a hopeless romantic! And a bit drippy. And he'll probably dream about cars or robots. But in my head it was magical.

Mind you, I'm quite ridiculously chuffed about my veggie patch anyway to be honest. What was 12 foot high brambles, nettles, ivy and other weeds last year... now has potatoes, onions, garlic, parsnips, carrots, celery, peas, beans, leeks, courgettes and, and, and... and it's really exciting! I did nearly kill myself clearing the patch, but even if I only manage a teensy bit of weeding and watering each day nowadays, I just love going out there and saying hello to my plants. I even managed to find time to sew another lot of lettuce, radishes and spinach seeds this morning because I was working from home and the commute time became luxurious spare time instead!

Yay!

So, working from home today. And I survived the dentist's too! And joy of joys... the scary dentist is gone (the one who nearly gave me the filling that never was) a few months ago... and was replaced by a chilled out guy who put the kids at ease and was generally human. Maddy has earned herself a referral to the orthodontist (she's the squinty goofy kid!) and the fact that I was really ill during my pregnancy with Felix looks like it's the explanation for his manky coloured teeth too. A dental trip which was more valuable than scary! Who knew!!!

That's about all! Productive stuff working from home... generally! Drafted a document which I've been needing to sort out which was good. Read a load of materials for a meeting on Monday... then discovered I couldn't make the meeting after all which wasn't so good! And didn't have to commute (yes, I know I already mentioned that but it's worth repeating!). Oooh, plus I got to go out to lunch with a couple of friends. And got to go see Felix having a swimming lesson for the first time ever. :o)))

It's almost like being a human being again!

PS Almost
PPS My children are aliens. I fear it's genetic...
