This is what happens when

my Uncle turns 50 and has a "shorts and shades/80's" party.

I dress in denim shorts, fish nets, Doc Marten's and a Frankie t-shirt;
Corin goes all Hawaiian on me and a little bit silly;
(Uncle) Chris is happy as can be in his new Leicester city shirt, dancing to a variety of 80's tunes from the disco and from the singer;
Dangerous Dave finds his dancing legs with Rose (after a few beers) and my Nana leans in conspiratorially and says "Dave dances just like your grandad used to - move a bit, shuffle the feet, but not really very energetic";
Other people get into the spirit too and don't care who is watching them.

Two hour drive to Leicester. Top party. Was feeling a bit underdressed when we arrived, but happy that I had made an effort to get into the spirit of things and quite pleased with my legs in shorts! Fortunately, the couple who are central to this collage also went all out - the guy was wearing a net tutu under his t-shirt! They definitely got the dancing going that's for sure.

Nice to see Nana looking quite chirpy, clearly still amused by uncle Dave's antics of drinking beer and singing Frank Sinatra songs under the influence of helium whilst blowing up the balloons.

Rose, as lovely and smiley as always, happy to get up to dance with me despite my lack of moves.

James - found a friend to play with within 20 minutes of getting there, came and danced to Madness and other such music (and loved the limelight) and was, as always, a delight to have with us.

Yeah - family nights are good. Silly, but definitely very good.
